Who is Melisandre in Game of Thrones?
The Red Woman · House Baratheon
Melisandre (The Red Woman) is a character in Game of Thrones, part of House Baratheon. A red priestess of R'hllor from the distant city of Asshai, Melisandre has crossed the world to stand at Stannis Baratheon's side on Dragonstone. She preaches that the night is dark and full of terrors, burns the old gods' statues as offerings, and reads visions of kings in her flames. She believes Stannis is Azor Ahai reborn, the prince who was promised, and her conviction is absolute — those who doubt her tend not to thrive. Her power over the island's faith, and over Stannis himself, unsettles his oldest servants.
