Shane Walsh (The partner who kept the family — briefly) is a character in The Walking Dead, part of The Atlanta Group. Shane Walsh got Lori and Carl out of the fall of everything, kept the camp alive with a cop's pragmatism, and built, for a few apocalyptic weeks, the family he'd always orbited. Rick's return hands it all back to a man Shane loves and increasingly cannot follow: where Rick deliberates, Shane has already shot the problem. He is the series' first great argument — that the new world belongs to men like him — and the farm is where the argument stops being theoretical.
