Paco (The kid on the stairwell) is a character in You, part of Collateral. Paco reads paperbacks on the hallway stairs because inside the apartment his mother's boyfriend Ron is drinking — the neighbour kid Joe feeds, lends books to, and protects with escalating finality. Paco is the series' moral instrument panel: every kindness Joe shows him is genuine, every lesson ('sometimes you do bad things for people you love') is grooming by example, and what the boy ultimately sees — and chooses to unsee — closes season one's argument about how Joes get made.
