Who is Ishido Kazunari in Shōgun?
The keeper of Osaka · Osaka Council
Ishido Kazunari (The keeper of Osaka) is a character in Shōgun, part of Osaka Council. Ishido Kazunari rose from peasant soldier to regent and holds Osaka Castle — and with it the Taiko's heir, the boy in whose name all five regents claim to act. He has built the majority against Toranaga regent by regent, grievance by grievance, and needs only the formality of a vote to finish it. Ishido's power is institutional, his patience administrative, and his resentment of well-born men a furnace kept carefully fed.
